Between our Gamefinder app and the Free App A Day, OpenFeint, and AppAllStar websites, there’s always something good to download risk-free. Here are our picks for the best games they’re literally giving away today.

Jetpack Joyride

Halfbrick’s high-score running game, starring grizzled action hero Barry Steakfries, is free today! You control Barry as he tries to escape from an underground lab with a top-secret weapon– the Machine Gun Jetpack. You’ll have to dodge laser beams, collect coins, and unlock achievements as you blast through the lab. Jetpack Joyride is a total blast, so take it for a ride.

Our Score: 3 out of 4

Our Bottom Line: Halfbrick’s latest is no slouch, but it won’t knock many socks off.

Edge

Despite some ugly legal battles over the name, Edge stands out for being a great game. Your goal is to move a cube from one end of a maze to another. Your cube has limited mobility, and the obstacles in your way can be perplexing, but Edge’s soothing chiptunes soundtrack and intuitive controls make it hard to put down. Edge launched almost three years ago for $5.99, but today you can have it for free.

Our Score: 4 out of 4

Our Bottom Line: It’s hip to be square.

Chop Chop Caveman

Now you can play with a low-tech caveman on your high-tech iOS device, for free. Chop Chop Caveman is a 2d platformer from Gamerizon, who previously developed several great games like Chop Chop Slicer and Chop Chop Soccer. In Chop Chop Caveman, you play as a thick-headed neanderthal who can head-butt his way through any predator. It’s a challenging platformer, so check it out if you’re ancient enough to remember classic caveman games like Joe & Mac.

Our Score: 3 out of 4

Our Bottom Line: Chop Chop Caveman is graphically sharp, and fun in small doses.

I Dig It

One of our favorite indie iOS games, period, I Dig It is a lengthy and challenging game where you have to mine for underground treasure. You’re severely limited by your digger’s heat shield, fuel tank, and other equipment, but as you unearth more and more loot, you’ll be able to dig further and further. If you like playing I Dig It for free, we highly recommend the expansive sequel, I Dig It Expeditions.

Our Score: 3 out of 4

Our Bottom Line: Despite the frustrating number of ways you can die underground, we kept coming back to this game repeatedly.

NyxQuest

This summer, Chillingo released a side-scrolling platformer with a mythological setting. You play as Nyx, a winged girl who is looking for her famous friend Icarus. Not only is the platforming tough and varied, but the visuals are suitably epic as well. Download NyxQuest if you enjoy the God of War or Kid Icarus games, and want to play something that’s got a bit of each.

Our Score: 3 out of 4

Our Bottom Line: If it weren’t for the controls, NyxQuest would be a near perfect platformer

Trucker’s Delight: Episode 1

Haven’t seen the NSFW animated short Trucker’s Delight? Go right ahead, we’ll wait here for you to get back. Once your mind’s been blown by this crude, hilarious cartoon, you’ll be ready to download the official iOS game. This driving game isn’t very deep, but it does have a lot of the cartoon’s signature moves, like a “slurp” attack that the ladies love. Don’t miss this insane game while it’s still free!

Our Score: 3 out of 4

Our Bottom Line: We are stunned this game got past the approval process, but under the cartoon nudity lies a fun game.
