Facebook announced yesterday that it plans to start publishing mobile games. They’ve put a call out to developers who would like to get in on that sweet action. Like any publisher, they’d help promote the games, and take a cut of the profits.
They’ve already signed with 10 developers, most of which are smaller indie studios, with the exception being Gameloft, who has signed up to publish at least one game through the social network.
This new publishing platform is part of Facebook’s effort to make its investors happy by creating new revenue streams. It may be working: their stock shot up yesterday.
