Someone alert the proper authorities: EA is breeding fire monkeys. Earlier today, the company distributed a press release announcing the formation of ‘Firemonkeys,’ a studio born from a merger between FireMint and IronMonkey.
Both IronMonkey and FireMint are based in Australia. The former is responsible for titles like Mass Effect Infiltrator and Dead Space, and FireMint is behind classics like Flight Control and Real Racing. By their powers combined, FireMonkeys is now the biggest game studio in Australia.
‘Both of these studios have produced award-winning games,’ stated Tony Lay, general manager of IronMonkey, ‘and we believe combining the incredible talent pool in Melbourne, as well as leveraging the EA brand, sets us up for further success in the mobile arena.’
FireMonkeys will continue to work on separate projects, and will also begin new ones. EA assures fans that they ‘can expect unique features and new experiences in the brands they have come to know and love.’
