Traditionally, Nintendo is a company that zigs when everyone else zags. When Nintendo announced the partnership with DeNA, everyone thought it was a good idea. Which makes GAMESbrief’s Nicholas Lovell think Nintendo has yet to reveal its full plans for mobile. In an article posted to Gamastura, Lovell hypothesizes that Nintendo’s secret plan for the NX is to make the ultimate controller for the smartphone era of gaming.
Nintendo will harness the wearable/sensor research that comes out of its health and wellbeing division to create a new type of controller. My current guess is a glove of some sort, but it could be a smart watch and a couple of rings, or something like that.
Do you like Diablo? If so, you have a bunch of free-to-play games on iOS that deliver that addictive slay-and-loot gameplay loop. Spirit Lords is another fine entry in the genre. From the 4 out of 5 star review on Gamezebo:
Ultimately, Spirit Lords’ free-to-play barriers are relatively minor. They’re definitely worth looking past if you’re in the market for a charismatic game that lets you collect oodles of loot and brilliant-looking ghosts.
NBA Jam is a classic basketball game with a long history of being a ridiculously enjoyable entry in the genre, dating back to the Super Nintendo. It continues in this fine tradition on iOS, and YouTouber Lonnie takes it for a spin. Enjoy the results.
Temple Run borrows shamelessly from Indiana Jones, and the upcoming game Lara Croft: Relic Run borrows shamelessly from Temple Run. The game is out now in the Netherlands, but you can expect a U.S. release before too long.
The game seems to hit a lot of the notes of other endless runners, and the Temple Run [Free] comparisons are inevitable, because that game is the granddaddy of all vaguely Indiana-Jones-inspired endless runners at this point. This one might be fun in its own right, some endless runners are still fun despite being derivative. But we’ll be curious to see if this one turns out to be fun and original, somehow. Until then, it sounds like you should consult our one-size-fits-all review. At least this one has a T-Rex?
