Cheap Shot: Crash!! The Most Stupid Race

In real life, people tend to ride unicycles for short periods of time, if at all. They’re fun diversions, a novelty of a transportation device. The same applies to Crash!, a game in which you maneuver a muscular luchador-looking unicycler through a series of brick walls. This novelty of a game is good for a quick laugh, but not much else.

For starters, there’s not much to do here. Only one mode of play is available, and the object is to see how many walls you can make it through before you screw up and hit one.

How silly can you get?

You see, each wall has a luchador-shaped hole in it. Our buffed out protagonist can hold each of his arms in 3 different positions of varying heights, and you must use the onscreen buttons to match his arms with the upcoming hole so you squeeze through just right.

Tilting the device back and forth will aim you towards the hole, and this worked pretty well. Learning to play this game won’t take more than 20 seconds, unlike learning to ride a real unicycle.

Things gradually get faster and faster as you play, and when you inevitably lose you can upload scores to online leaderboards, though they only show the top ten worldwide and nationwide scores.

We wish there was more to this game. It’s hilarious to see the luchador twisting his arms madly to fit through the walls, but this won’t be an experience that lasts you more than 30 minutes, tops. But hey, maybe that’s all you expect of your 99 cents.

Editor’s Note: Cheap Shot is a new review feature where we pick a game that costs $.99 or $1.99 and give it the quick review treatment. While you won’t find a 1-4 score or our usual pros and cons, you will get a direct assessment of the game based on a one-hour playthrough. You’ll still find our full-length, regular reviews for other games.
