The latest in the Warhammer super-genre is out in this free to play mech battler. Taking command of an Imperial Knight mech in this shooter / battler is pretty epic. The graphics are pretty good, but the game is not without issue. Then again, what game is?
Mobile-centric bite sized missions and constant upgrades to the mech repeat as the player navigates through an endless set of missions to help retake a planet. It’s a shooter lovers perfect mobile game, that’s for sure. But it left me wondering what if the free to play mechanics weren’t so strong and the game had a stronger story and action focus?
Those with an iPhone 6s or 6s+ can take advantage of 3D Touch to have extra control of the weapons, as shown during the iPhone 6s launch keynote. This game will please many — but I found that the missions were just too short, and the required upgrades too numerous for the game to be enjoyable for me.
True Skate has been around for two and a half years, a lifetime in mobile games. But the cool thing is that it’s still getting upgrades through $0.99 in-app purchased new levels. Unexpected, but very awesome.
In True Skate, the player controls a skateboard with two fingers, making this almost like a music timing game. Each move of the finger, or coordinated moves of two fingers lead to a trick or some sort of control of the board. Don’t worry, it sounds insanely hard, but the tutorial does a good job of guiding new players through the game.
It’s a very fun escape.
