Big Game Night: Tiny Death Star, Sorcery! 2, and More

It’s Wednesday. You’ve made it to the middle of the week. Have a gold star. No, tell you what, have a Death Star. Tiny Death Star from Disney and Nimblebit is just one of several big titles being released tonight. You can also expect Sid Meier’s Ace Patrol to fly onto the scene again, and Rayman is doing another run. Most of these titles are currently available on the New Zealand App Store, and are scheduled to go worldwide at 11 p.m. EST/8 p.m. Pacific.

Tiny Death Star

It’s no moon. It’s a wee weapon of intended intergalactic genocide. Disney Interactive, LucasArts and Nimblebit have teamed up to assemble a version of Tiny Tower that utilizes themes and elements from Star Wars. Why build a wimpy tower when you can build something that fires lasers from a canon the size of Jupiter’s eye? Then again, a tiny Death Star probably isn’t capable of destroying much. Maybe it can singe a birdhouse or something.

Rayman Fiesta Run

As Rayman Jungle demonstrates, Rayman’s getting good at this running thing. That’s what happens when you’re constantly perused and tortured by Rabbids. Rayman Fiesta Run is a follow-up to Jungle Run, and it features new worlds, new abilities (including swimming), and new powers. There will be no siesta for you, Rayman.

Sid Meier’s Ace Patrol: Pacific Skies

Sid Meier’s Ace Patrol is a very decent flying/dogfighting title, but Meier’s not done showing us his collection of awesome old-timey war planes. Sid Meier’s Ace Patrol: Pacific Skies takes place during the second World War, specifically in the skies over the Pacific ocean. You can play on either the Japanese or American sides of the conflict, and fly missions into Pearl Harbor, Midway, and Guadalcanal.

Sorcery! 2

The original Sorcery! is an excellent interactive novel from Steve Jackson, whose Fighting Fantasy series has been beloved since the days when game books required notepaper and dice. Sorcery! 2 lets you swing a sword and sling spells in the thief-riddled City of Traps. Sounds like a safe place to visit. Bring the kids. Make a day of it.
