Wednesday night is Big Game Night. iOS developers line up and present their goods to Apple at 11 pm EST in hopes that they’ll grab a coveted “Featured” spot on the App Store. This week, you can take to the skies with Sid Meier’s Ace Patrol—or you can rob a few families or careen through a minimalist race track, if that’s more your speed.
Sid Meier’s iOS debut takes you roaring above the poppy fields in the planes of the Great War. Ace Patrol is a turn-based strategy game that challenges your brains as well as your reflexes. Climb and bank to gain height advantages over your foes, hide in clouds, and rear your own stable of ace flyers. Failure is not an option. Fans of Meier’s work will love this one. While the game is set to hit the US App Store tonight, note that the link below goes to the Canadian iTunes page.
Impossible Road is a bare-bones “driving” game that puts a heavy emphasis on four things: Action, speed, tight turns, and cheating. The game’s creator, Kevin Ng, wants you to break Impossible Road. If you find a nook that lets you push through the game’s boundaries and exploit it, you may just be rewarded for your dirty efforts. Were you one of those racers that lived by the Rainbow Road cheat in Mario Kart 64? Guess what: You’ve come home.

Daddy Was a Thief
In this crummy economy, a man’s gotta do what he can to feed his family. Even if it involves donning a black mask and picking up a copy of “Robbery for Dummies.” Daddy Was a Thief is an action game from Rebel Twins that puts you in the stripes of a newborn con. You need to smash through floors and furniture to grab as much cash as possible before the fuzz grabs you. Luckily, you have some bulk around your waist that should help get the job done.

Tasty Tadpoles is a stealth/puzzle game from Firemint alumni Mark White. It looks adorable, but don’t be fooled: Everything is out to kill you. Such is the short, tragic life of the tadpole. Hide under lily pads, learn how to use whirlpools to your advantage, duck under the bellies of turtles—whatever it takes to survive long enough to see the sun set behind the pond for just one more day.

Crazy Monster Bowling
What do monsters do when they’re not hiding under beds and scaring the dickens out of young kids? They bowl! In Crazy Monster Bowling, you throw yourself at pins in hopes of getting a strike. It’s a bit like bowing with your Uncle Clyde after he’s had a few too many brewskis over at the snack bar.
