It’s Wednesday, and that means it’s iOS’s biggest night of the week. Tonight at 8pm Pacific/ 11pm Eastern, games that are newly available in New Zealand will be launched on the US App Store. Get a sneak preview right here, and follow the NZ App Store “Kiwi Links” to purchase them as soon as possible.
Gameloft’s epic third-person action game combines elements of swordfighting, platforming, and exploration. The game is set during the height of the British Navy, so you can expect lots of Master and Commander-style intrigue on the high seas. At E3, this was Gameloft’s best-looking game, and we think it’ll especially appeal to anyone who enjoys Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed series.

Tiny Tower is a freemium game that’s the next great innovation beyond Farmville. Sort of like a casual version of SimTower, in Tiny Tower you can build an apartment/retail skyscraper, one floor at a time. To build a new floor, your businesses have to be successful, and your people have to be happy and productive. Restocking your stores is similar to planting crops in Farmville, but your miniature blockhead residents make this freemium game far cuter than any cow-clicker.
Monkey Island Tales 3-5 HD
Telltale’s been great about launching debut episodes of their games on iPad, but not so good about finishing up a series. Tonight, they’ll round out the Monkey Island Tales series with three games that conclude the season. If you thought Guybrush, LeChuck, and Elaine finished their adventures in the 90s, you’ve got some catching up to do.

Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing
Tomorrow is the 20th anniversary of Sonic’s debut on the Sega Genesis, so what better way to celebrate than with a joy ride? We’ve played builds of this kart racing game at both GDC and E3, and we think it’ll be a lot of fun for anyone who’s ever owned a Sega console, especially the Dreamcast. Characters from House of the Dead, Shenmue, Sonic, and more jockey for first place in this fast, colorful racing game.
