Wednesday is iOS gaming’s big night, when all the top developers launch their games to get prime placement from Apple the next day. Tonight, we’ve got a new game from the makers of Soosiz, plus sequels from the creators of Angry Birds, Fix-it-up, and Hunters. Read on for your early NZ links, which will transport our American readers to the US App Store if you click after 8pm Pacific.
Angry Birds Space
Not content to just have the most downloaded videogame on the planet, Rovio is launching Angry Birds into space later tonight. This sequel to the definitive physics puzzler features tricky new environments, where large celestial bodies exert gravity on the flying birds. There are also new kinds of birds to fling, as well.

Hunters: Episode One is a much-loved strategy game for iOS that puts you in charge of a squad of space marines. In addition to 24-hour contracts that change every day, this sequel ups the ante with a full campaign mode. As you complete missions, ranging from escorting scientists to annihilating aliens, you’ll earn more cash to upgrade your gear. If you’re interested in strategy games and RPGs, be sure to read our upcoming review for the final word on Hunters 2.

You might not have heard of Soosiz, but it’s still one of our favorite 2D platformers on iOS. This fun, lighthearted game has a main character that seems completely harmless. For their follow-up, developers Touch Foo have created a character with a bit more bite– a pint-sized adventurer with a big sword. Swordigo seems to combine run-and-jump platforming with RPG combat and leveling up, making it a game that seems to strike all the right parts of any serious gamer’s brain.

Fix-it-up 80s: Meet Kate’s Parents
The first Fix-it-up is a time management game where you play as a young mechanic named Kate who has to save her family’s business. This prequel takes place before Kate was even born, way back in the 1980s. The gameplay is similar, though– you’ll have to take in new cars, repair and paint them, and sell them for a profit.

Chillingo’s gotten into the habit of releasing two or three new games every week, so instead of featuring all of them, we’ll just focus on the few that interest us the most. In Madcoaster, you control a wild rollercoaster as it slams into birds and animals. You can jump, switch tracks, and collect coins, all to achieve a high score. It looks like fun, but we doubt that male model Fabio, who struck a goose with his face on a rollercoaster in 1999, would approve.
