Guitar Hero® Live

Guitar Hero Live - Rock out with your phone out

Guitar Hero is back! This time it’s going live as the game allows players to play in front of a live audience or to strum along with GHTV, an in-game music video channel. In addition, there will be iOS compatible controllers out soon that will give the full experience, or play along using the touch only version.

While this game is free, it only comes with two songs. The full version requires buying either the controller bundle or unlocking the touch only version to get access to all of the songs. Luckily no piecemeal pay per song like last time around.

Ghosts of Memories

Ghosts of Memories - An Adventure Puzzler Dunked in a Monumental Valley

There’s no denying that this game takes a few cues from the isomorphic, Escher-like worlds of Monument Valley. But that’s a good thing. It’s a different game, but just as wonderfully atmospheric, relaxing, yet brain straining as Monument Valley.

Ghosts of Memories is an adventure puzzle game located in 4 stunningly beautiful worlds. In Ghosts of Memories you will explore the lands of ancient civilizations, full of undiscovered paths and mysterious puzzles based on tricky tiles. Think logically to solve all the quests and puzzles on your journey!

Game Insight Releases X-Mercs To Cure Your Turn Based Blues

X-Mercs is a new and interesting take on the typical turn based strategy game like X-Com. For one, it’s free to play. There are also PvP raids in the game (ala Clash of Clans) that can add way more interest to the game.

All in all it’s a really well done game with amazing art and great gameplay.

NBA 2K16

Out Now: NBA 2K16 from 2K Games

It’s odd this. 2K pushed the crappy NHL CCG at us like it was some big deal. No mention of this game coming out though. I’m guessing they assume it can speak for itself so why push it?? I dunno. 2K is an enigma.

But well, back to this game. It’s an NBA game on mobile. So…. If you like that sort of thing, have at it. Not my thing. And don’t confuse it with “My NBA 2K16,” that’s something else. I dunno.

Cloud Chasers - A Journey of Hope

Cloud Chasers - an immigration survival story

Normally I shy away from “games with a message.” Games are an escape for me and I don’t need to be reminded how horrible the world is when trying to escape. But I make an exception for a game like this because it’s got so much going for it.

This new game from Blindflug Studios is a randomly generated steampunk world RPG where the main character is trying to survive and make it to a better life. The narrative is great, as are the characters. An interesting game.

Subterfuge might be the massive real time multiplayer strategy game of your dreams

When the App Store launched there was this huge promise of massive realtime multiplayer games that never materialized. Since every device was always connected, it was thought that real time multiplayer games would be a natural fit. But so far that hasn’t worked out. Subterfuge hopes to set the bar for such games, and does set it very high.

In the creators own words, Subterfuge:

Plays out in real-time over the course of a week or more. Players check in a few times each day to assess their situation, issue or modify orders, and engage their fellow players in diplomacy and subterfuge. You will need to master both strategy and diplomacy to earn your victory, so plan ahead, coordinate with others, and carefully consider the consequences of your actions!
