Bardbarian Review

Bardbarian, the latest from developer TreeFortress, tells the tale of Brad, a local barbarian village protector. He’s quite used to his routine by now: He has to protect the Town Crystal by fending off the various monsters and baddies that attack. He’s so used to it, as a matter of fact, that he’s outright bored with it. He’s also a somewhat refined barbarian, having an affinity for music, and thusly strings his battleaxe, turning it into a lute. This makes the chore of defending the town much more palatable to our hero, but is it enough to keep gameplay fresh? (more…)

Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed Review

Anyone old enough to remember playing Sonic the Hedgehog on the Sega Genesis will recall the frenetic speed of the platformer, so it only makes sense for the Sega mascot to get his turn at a kart racing game. He’s had a few attempts spanning various consoles, with the most notable being Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing a few years back. Now he gets another great one with an iOS port of his most recent console racer, Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed. It’s a fun, spirited game that deserves a spot on any racing fan’s podium. Star Trek Trexels Review

Much like the films of the franchise, Star Trek games have always been a mixed bag. But where the films run the gamut from good to lousy, the games, for the most part, are a mix of playable-but-dull to downright awful. YesGnome is the latest developer to take a shot at the franchise, with Trexels, a micro-manager for iOS in which you supply and train a crew of Starfleet personnel on your very own Federation starship that you build up and maintain. So was their phaser set to deliver a truly stunning game or have they killed their chance at creating a fantastic Trexperience? (more…)
