Just when you thought the Angry Birds brand had invaded every inch of free space on the planet, Rovio goes and proves you wrong. They’ve announced that they’re bringing the holy Angry Birds trinity–that is, Angry Birds, Angry Birds Seasons, and Angry Birds Rio–to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Nintendo 3DS this holiday season.
Notably, Angry Birds Space, the birds’ latest romp, is being left out of the mix. You gotta leave room for a sequel, amiright?
The games will feature up-rezzed graphics from the original titles, and will support special features on each of the systems. The Xbox 360 version will have Kinect support, the PlayStation 3 version will support Move, and the 3DS version will incorporate Street Pass in some fashion.
Rovio’s Executive Vice President of Games Petri Järvilehto told IGN:
You can think of the game as the ultimate collector’s edition. There are new cinematics, extras and other entertaining content. In addition all of the existing material has been uprezzed and re-treated for the high-resolution and big screen.
The backgrounds have been animated, we’ve added lighting modes, reactive backgrounds, the list goes on and on. We believe that there are a lot of people on the consoles who appreciate a great casual game play experience.
There’s still no exact release date and no word on pricing, but it will be interesting to see how much they charge, seeing as you can buy all three games for two bucks right now on the App Store (Angry Birds Seasons is free at the moment–download it here if you haven’t yet). We’ll have more info for you as it comes to light.
